- Menasha, Wis., March 24 - Mrs. John Bartlein died today at her home on Broad street. Mrs. Bartlein retired last evening apparently in good health but at midnight she was stricken ill and death resulted shortly before 2 o'clock this morning. Mrs. Bartlein was born in Bavaria, Germany, June 3, 1838, and came to America when eighteen years of age, settling at Milwaukee. She was united in marriage at Milwaukee, November 23, 1859, and shortly after that settled on a farm in the town of Harrison near this city. Eight years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Bartlein disposed of their farm property and came to this city to make their home. The fiftieth anniversary of their marriage was celebrated in November last year.
Surviving her are two sons and five daughters, as follows: Frank and Andrew Bartlein, and Mrs. William Huelsbeck of the town of Harrison; Mrs. Fred Eckrich of Menasha; Mrs. Henry Arno of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. George Wilz of the town of Menasha and Miss Margaret Bartlein of Chicago.
The funeral will be held from the St. Mary's church Monday morning at 9 o'clock, Rev. Father Schmitz officiating.
