| The Shawano Ledger, |
- Joe Bartlein, 89, a former Shawano, Wis. resident, died last Thursday at his home in Portland, Ore., it was learned here today. Bartlein, who came to Shawano in 1888, operated the old Farmers Home Hotel, located on the present site of the county welfare office. He moved to Portland in 1907.
He is survived by seven children; Alois of Shawano, Matt of Portland, Anthony of New York, and George, Otillia (Mrs. Harry Madison), Elizabeth, and Amanda, all of California.
