Edward BELANGER and Aurelia BRUNETTE

I have several people in my family that started doing genealogy on the family long ago and I just found a HUGE mistake.
They have Aurelia BRUNETTE as Marie Francoise Aurelia BRUNETTE, her parents being Dominique BRUNETTE and Domitelle GRIGNON.
This is wrong.... I happened across Aurelia's death certificate at the Michigan Archives online database. After studying
the names for a while I realized her parents were not Dominique and Domitelle. First off her birth is listed as 1830 NOT 1820.
The parents listed looked like Pruden Brunette and Louise Reno. I looked in the census and sure enough there is a Prudent and
Louise. Prudent BRUNETTE b. July 20, 1807 Maskinonge, Maskinonge, Quebec, Canada. Died March 18, 1893 Brown County, Wisconsin.
He married Marie Louise Blanchard dit RAYNAUD 10/16/1827 in St. Hyacinthe, Les Maskoutains, Quebec, Canada. Died July 14, 1884
in Flintville, Brown, Wisconsin.
Prudent is the son of Charles BRUNETTE dit DAUPHIN who is the brother of Dominique BRUNETTE Sr.

I found Aurelia Brunette's birth record.
In the census she lists her age as follows.
1850 she is 18 years old
1860 she is 28 years old
1870 she is 39 years old
She also stated she was born in Canada.
The 1870 Census was taken in June so I would have assumed she was born before June.
Her Parents Prudent BRUNETTE and Marie Louise BLANCHARD dit Raynaud were married in Notre Dame Du Rosaire, St. Hyacinthe on
October 16, 1827. So I looked through the births for 1831 and found it.
Francoise Brunette Born April 3rd, 1831 at Notre Dame Du Rosaire, St. Hyacinthe.
If you would like a copy of it drop me an EMAIL and I would be glad to send it to you.

Excerpt from an 'Ortssippenbuch' from Waldsee that lists all of the families that lived in that village back into the 1500's. There is a page in that book that talks about the Fate of an emigrant. It turns out that they are talking about Valentin Klapp & wife Maria Katharina Regenauer & family. Translated, here is what it says:
Fate of an emigrant!
As small example, is the fate of Valentin Klapp with his wife Mrs. Maria Katharina Regenauer from Waldsee: Valentin Klapp, born in Schifferstadt married in the year 1822, the daughter of the Waldseer citizen Abraham Regenauer and his wife Eva Maria, born Ignatius. As an outstanding field man, he possessed eight work fields beside a house, a barn, stables, as well as plants and orchard. Since the birth of their first child the wife was ailing, so that the married man, apart from its farm work, had to take over the majority of the housework. In the course of the years four more children were added. Twenty years went by, until in 1844 and the three following years were to be registered as a harvest failure. This brought the child-rich family into hard times, so that they decided to leave the homeland, the reason was to improve their life and a change of climate for the health of the wife. On 14 April of the year 1847 they left, first to Ludwigshafen, then by steam ship to Cologne and then to the port of embarkation "Antwerp". After, followed two weeks of voyage on the sea. The travel, began in a restrained area of the ship in the "between deck" of a freighter. The state of health of the woman worsened appreciably. The youngest son got sick and deceased on 23 May. The wife died then on 1 June 1847 on the ship. 12 hours after her death, she, in her cloths was weighted and buried at sea. The man said later that he will never forget these heart-tearing moments in his life.
After 41 days passage, the family came with others into the sea port of New York. On 13 June they began to explore the inside of the country with other emigrants.
They ended up in Detroit. From here they settled in the country near that city.
The Detroit countryside was of a swampy nature, and few areas were inhabited. Former German immigrants met them, advised them against the purchase of this country, because of the swampy conditions.
Valentin Klapp did not like his experiences in America. Homesickness had come over him and he decided to go back to Germany. Since, however, he had not saved enough money he remained until he had earned enough. He left his three sons in America, in order to make money for their return trip. On 2 August 1847 he left to Germany again on an American three-master ship.
He shudders to thinks of this return trip, because except for him, there were only Englishmen and Irelanders on board. He was treated by them in an inhuman way and inconsiderately.
Beside stormy weather, came also a predatory crew, who applied their rule by force and he was stolen from.
He continued his life and his three sons never returned to Germany, their fate is unknown.

Excerpt from Haskell Family in North America - Descendants of William Haskell and Elinor Foule
Website: http://hfa.haskells.net/haskellfamilyna/pafg07.htm#14335
Ensign William HASKELL was born on 06 Nov 1670 in Gloucester, Essex, Massachusetts. He married Abigail DAVIS on 08 Sep 1692 in Gloucester, Essex, Massachusetts, USA. He was buried on Jan 1730/31 in Ancient Cemetery (Second Parish Burying Ground), West Gloucester, Essex, Massachusetts. He died on 17 Jan 1730/31 in Gloucester, Essex, Massachusetts. He was known by the title of Ensign.
William inherited his father's mill and he also engaged in agricultural pursuits, but his chief means of livelihood was fishing. Even before his father died he was a mariner.
His success was relatively great, as we find that at his death he left an estate of £2565 which included vessels, warehouses, saltfish and a "negro man."
During his lifetime he displayed a more than average interest in town affairs, was a selectman, and also a deacon in his church for a few years before his death. He was better known as "Ensign", which name was derived from his office in the Military Company.

Explorer. Marie-Thérèse Guyon-Cadillac was the first white woman ever to cross the 750 miles of uncharted and hostile Iroquois Territory (Quebec to Detroit through Lake Ontario) days after the signing of a peace treaty in 1701 between France and the Iroquois forces. This undaunted explorer, settler, and businesswoman risked her life to prove France's faith in the new treaty. She joined her husband at le Detroit to transform Fort Pontchartrain into a real settlement. As one of only two pioneer women at the fort she took on many responsibilities; including hiring voyageurs and signing contracts. In the absence of a surgeon, as the first lady of the manor she automatically became the colony's doctor to the 200 habitants and to the four thousand neighboring Indians. Twice, during her husband's recalls to Quebec, she remained at the fort as a token of the fort's stability and to staunchly defend the Cadillac's interests. Marie-Thérèse's life is a story of courage and determination, piety, intelligence, business acumen, and outstanding devotion to humanity. She cast personal safety aside to achieve what she believed in; the settling of Detroit. There, she became an example of womanhood at its best, undaunted by danger and prejudice. Without her presence, Fort Pontchartrain would never have grown into one of the nation's largest cities. | Guyon, Marie Therese (I3480)

Four Generations of Children Mourn Death of Mrs Sarah Bricco Grenier. The recent death of Mrs. Sarah Bricco-Grenier, aged 92, a former resident of this city, occurring at her home near Bear Creek marked the passing of a women declared to be the mother of more descendants than any other women in the United States. She left a total of 403 offspring, extending into the fifth generation. Traveling by steamboat and team Mrs Grenier with her husband, Saul Bricco, to whom she was married November 21, 1853, in a little village on the shores of Lake Champlain, came west the following spring, settling in this city. They resided here until 1870 when they moved to Outagamie County and located on a farm near the Town of Maple Creek. Ten of Mrs Grenier's 11 children are still living in various parts of Wisconsin and the eldest, Mrs M. J. Monty, of Bear Creek, 72 years old, mother of 15 children numbers her own descendants past the 100 mark. A son, William Bricco, was the father of 16 children. Mrs. Grenier kept a sheep and each year spun its wool on a old fashioned spinning wheel, knitting the yarn into stockings which she sold to obtain money for small articles she desired. Her last fleece was spun last summer and final pair of stocking was knit last may. Mrs. Grenier was born at Grand Maltice, Canada, January 1, 1934. Mr Solomon Bricco was killed May 14, 1877. He was felling a tree when his dog ran under the falling trunk. Mr Bricco ran to drive it from danger and was struck down. He was 94 years of age. Several years later Mrs Bricco married Oliver Grenier of Northport, who died after a few years. Mrs Grenier's children included Mrs Mary Jane Monty of Bear Creek, Saul Bricco of New London, Mrs Philomena Roberts and Mrs Sarah Ann Balthazar of the Town of Deer Creek, Mrs Agnes Balthazar of Maple Creek (at whose home she died) William Bricco of Elderon, Mrs Jessie Balthazar of Whittenberg. Another daughter, Mrs Adeline Belongia of New London, died December 18, 1925. The youngest daughter is 60 years of age. The Grandchildren number 121. | Tuft, Sarah Mary (I1268)
