I believe Anna (nee Bettisch) Daleiden was Rose's Godmother. Rose's Baptismal Certificate lists her god-mother as Anna Bettisch and god-father as Franciscus Schillinger. Anna's photo is attached. She accompnied Verona Engelhardt (Rose's Grandmother) to Cincinnati when she came from Pankota in 1911 according to Verona's ships manifest.

I loved my Grandmother, Mary Pfeiffer, even when she said her "step-ins hurt" as we walked to Nativity Church on Sunday mornings. She was very Austrian and did not know that is was her "in-steps" that hurt!
She made the best Linser Dough Cookies and Rocks at christmas time; batches and batches of them because all of the grandchildren came on Christmas Eve and enjoyed the cookies so much.
Aunt Marie (dearly loved too, but disappointed us because she drank too much). She wanted children so much but did not become pregnant. She & Uncle Herman adopted a beautiful little girl they called Mary Ann. I think her drinking ended her life sooner than any of wanted.

In 1851 on the census report we find Charles and his family living in a log house, situated just south of Robert Macfie's property and before the Miller residence. Charles is listed a a laborer . We may assume , that he worked on either or both of the Macfie properties. His sister Anne was living then in the stone house with her large family and her parents, Alexander having passed away by this time. Their son George does not appear on the census listing so we assume that he died at an early age, eventhough we have been unable to locate a internment record for him.

In Austria Grandpa Pfeiffer had both legs broken. Methods to re-set were poor to say the least. He sat in a rocking chair all day, and him and Grandma fought because all the work was hers - cutting grass, etc. He smoked a pipe all day with the dog in his lap and never said a word. Grandma's parents in Austria (Hungry) married her off.
