Blessed Dina Belanger was born and baptized on 30 April 1897 in St-Roch, Québec, the daughter of Olivier Octave Belanger & Séraphia Matte. Her parents lived at 168 Notre Dame des Anges in the Parish of Jacques Cartier, Portneuf County. Dina was baptized at St. Roch, Québec. She studied music and planned to become a concert pianist. While studying in New York, Dina lived with the Religious of Jesus-Mary. She returned home and decided to enter the religious life in the Congregation of Jesus-Marie at Sillery, where the nuns had their mother house. She entered the convent at the age of 24, in August 1921. She entered the order of Jesus-Marie in February 1922 and received the name Sister Marie Sainte-Cécile of Rome and took her final vows on 25 August 1923. As a nun, Dina Belanger taught music.
On two occasions the sisters sent her to teach at Saint-Michel of Bellechasse but both times, illness brought her back to Sillery where she stayed (teaching music) until her death. She could have taught in many areas as she had excelled in all her studies but due to her having shown such great talent in music at a young age and her continued education at the Conservatory of New York from 1916 to 1918, her superiors judged her best qualified to teach music.
Dina had a brother who died at the age of 3 months. Dina's father was an auditor and her grandfather operated a grocery store in the St Malo district of Québec. Her ancestors (Pierre, Joseph-Marie and Nicolas) all came from Charlesbourg.
Dina died on 4 Sept in the Couvent de Jésus-Marie, Sillery and was buried on 7 Sept 1929 at the age of 32, in St-Colomb de Sillery, Québec. | Belanger, Blessed Marie Dina Marguerite (I3267)

My Cavil family branch now begins in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England with George Cavil, Sr. born 1754 to William Cavil and his wife. Data on William and his wife is not known yet.
George Cavil, Sr. married Elizabeth BRYAN. Elizabeth was born 1765 in Hive, Yorkshire, Eng. Her father's name was John and that's all we know about her. George, Sr. and Elizabeth married in Eastington, Yorkshire, England on 23 July 1788. Among other children was George, Jr. born 1792 in Sandholme, Yorkshire, England. George, Jr. married Diana GIBSON. Diana was the daughter of Robert Gibson and Mary FENBY both of the mid-1700's England.
George, Jr. and Diana brought their young family to Metis, Quebec, Canada in 1820. On board the same vessel was the William CRAIG family of Paisley, Scotland. George Jr's and Diana's daughter Anqelique "Ann" Cavil married William Craig's son Alexander Craig. Alex and Ann had fourteen children, all born in Quebec, Canada.
I have lots of information on my Craigs. I am very interested in learning more about Angelique Cavil's ancestors, the Georges (Sr. and Jr.) and William of Yorkshire, England. If you know of my Cavils, or have hints, tips and suggestions about researching in Yorkshire, England (I hear it's a big place) please contact me at BL30X90@AOL.COM
Thank you and Happy Holidays!

My mother was a Cavil. George and Diane,s son, John Cavil and his wife Janet Craig moved from Little Metis, Quebec to the Town of Lawrence near De Pere, Wisconsin in the mid 1850s. His son, William Cavil, died in the War between the States. John's grandson, William " Buckskin" Cavil, was a colorful character that live into the 1960's. I have details these and other descendants of George if you care to communicate. There are still many Cavils living in the De Pere and Green Bay area. I do not have bonified information of the ancestors before George and would like verification. I have Canadian Census Records of the family from 1820 through George's death in 1869 and Janet's death in Wisconsin in 1872.

I too am descended from George and Diane Cavil through their son John and his wife Janet. My line of descent is through their son Robert and his first wife Marcelline Boyer.
I show George Cavil and his wife Diana Gibson, both born in 1789 in Yorkshire. I have George's father as William Cavil born in 1769 in Barrow upon Humber, Lincolnshire. His wife's name was Ann. No other information about her.
Very tentatively William's father and mother were William and Mary. No other information. I have no verification of this information, except there are some gravestones in Cady Cemetery, Lawrence Twp?, Brown Co. Wisconsin. These include, John and his wife Janet, as well as his mother Diana.
I would be interested in the Canadian census data you have.

Brings Details of Fatal Mishap
Fire Chief Returns From Funeral of Former Gladstone Man.
Details of the fatal accident that befell Herman Zimmel, aged 48, a former Gladstone resident, in Chicago last Friday afternoon, were brought to Gladstone Thursday night by a nephew of the victim, Fire Chief Raddant, who with a brother (in-law) and a sister of the deceased, Walter Hubert, 423 Delta avenue, and Mrs. Herbert Meldrum of this city, attended the funeral in Chicago Wednesday afternoon.
The late Mr. Zimmel was overseeing the building of a brick structure at Blue Island, about thirty miles from Chicago, when he met his death. A scaffold had been erected by the workmen Friday morning. Shortly after dinner Mr. Zimmel went to the top of the scaffold. He started to walk across when he lost his balance in some way and fell to the ground.
In the descent he struck several different supports to the scaffold, and apparently stunned by the first impact, was unable to reach out and arrest his fall by grabbing a hold. His work men saw him fall to his death. Mr. Zimmel was dead when picked up. His back had been broken in the fall.
Funeral services were held at the home of a daughter, at 716 West Fifty-ninth street, and burial was made in a Chicago cemetery.
The Gladstone fire chief, a nephew of the deceased, and Mr. Hubert and Mrs. Meldrum motored to Chicago, leaving here Monday, and returned home Thursday night.
The late Mr. Zimmel was once in the employ of the Soo Line In this city, and was a checker at the local docks, He left here about seven years ago for Chicago, where he procured a position with a construction company.
Huge banks of flowers at the funeral served as mute tokens to the high esteem in which the late Mr. Zimmel was held by his friends In that city.
